Phono is Jörg Steinhof, born and raised in Gera, Thuringia. Phono makes art. He makes it good, so good that there is no money at all to earn with. He is also one of East-Germany's most glaring cartoon artists who doesn't even stop when the topic of his work is source of embarrassment to all the people who have already lost their roots. By the way: After eight years in Leipzig he is now back in Thuringia's nature.

Find tons of free work and graphics by Phono in this site's archive that were made for clubs, festivals, magazines, party crews, record labels, shops and so on... A very interesting and more-to-come section of his work is big hand-crafted party decoration that he made in the majority of cases for the Thuringian MUNA club where it all started for him. 

As Phono's been a DJ since 1994 (playing everything from techno and hardcore to jungle, ambient, downbeat and drum'n'bass - Drumfunk rules!), he first acted in the club and party scene making deco, illustrations, photos, flyers... He also helped to establish electronic music in his area by organizing the first illegal parties in town and playing nearly everywhere in beautiful Thuringia that he really loves - the nature, the mountains, the people and the girls most of them. 

In Leipzig he ran his first own DJ crew called breakbeatmassaker together with DJ Echolot and others - over three years they played floors in Berlin, Leipzig, Chemnitz, Dresden, Gera, at the SonneMondSterne Festival and in some more towns this space would be too small to mention them all.
